Linea started as a single pond filled with sovereignty-minded amphibians and other creatures, but this week in Bangkok we announced our plans to grow to a decentralized network of all the world’s like-minded ponds, puddles and wherever else Lineans may swim/roam.
Wednesday at L2con and simultaneously at AltLayer Rollup Day and THW3 Bangkok, the team announced the formation of the Linea Association, an independent Swiss non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the growth, development and governance of Linea’s open-source technology and ecosystem. Read all about the Linea Association in our press release and also what it means for future tokenholders in our follow-up post.
The announcement garnered a favorable response from across the industry, including CoinDesk, CoinTelegraph, Decrypt and many others.

The Linea team was also all over the city, giving a number of talks at the DevCon main event, De.Fi World, Linea x Bitkub Unbound and offering bounties at EthGlobal Bangkok, which is still underway now.
Linea: Home Network for the Consensys Network State
Consensys CEO Joe Lubin re-affirmed Linea’s path to decentralized governance in his keynote talk at DevCon. There he also announced his vision for a Consensys Network State that will be resident on Linea Mainnet.
“While Consensys will operate throughout web3, we will consider Linea Mainnet our home network on which we build cores of our critical infrastructure,” Lubin said.

Lubin also announced the launch of sovs.xyz, a project inviting everyone to declare their personal sovereignty, as another small step toward the decentralized future.
You can go to sovs.xyz now to attest to the kinds of sovereignty that matter most to you, and write your support for the emerging world of network states, and our liberation through them, permanently on Linea. Thanks to CoinTelegraph and other outlets for covering this launch as well.
We have bigger plans coming soon: this is the beginning of a partnership with the community to build a network we all want to be a part of.
Not too bad for one week in Bangkok. Just imagine where we’ll go in the next year.

2025 Launched a New Era for Linea and L2s
2025 will be remembered as the year a broken L2 paradigm began to shift to something more stable and enduring. This is the year the ecosystem grew up, and much of that foundation was laid in recent months by Linea Over the past several months with the launch of the LINEA token, Linea established itself as the most ETH-centric L2. Linea tokenomics drives a non-extractive economy, designed to benefit every participant in our network over the long term “The networks that will matter in five years aren't the ones optimizing for today's benchmarks,” explains Declan Fox, Head of Linea. “They're the ones designed to be self-sustaining economies that strengthen Ethereum, not just sit on top of it.”
