The Linea Stewards Series: Eigen Labs
A Pioneer in Ethereum Infrastructure
Linea.Build

Linea continues to profile the Ethereum stewards that make up the Linea Consortium. Following our deep dive into Status Network, we're thrilled to introduce Eigen Labs, a pioneer in Ethereum infrastructure and a vital partner in Linea's mission to strengthen the network.
Eigen Labs is an engineering and research organization dedicated to building EigenCloud and contributing to its core protocols, EigenLayer, EigenDA, and EigenCompute. Often described as the "AWS of Ethereum," Eigen Labs provides crucial decentralized data availability and compute services.
It is perhaps best known for introducing the concept of restaking, a groundbreaking innovation enabling Ethereum's staked ETH to secure services and protocols beyond Ethereum itself. Builders can bootstrap security by leveraging existing Ethereum stake, allowing them to launch applications faster and with stronger security, even without their own native tokens.
“Eigen’s role as a steward for the network will help us continue our work as an ETH accelerator alongside the Linea team,” says Sreeram Kannan, founder and CEO of Eigen Labs. "Linea will be a force multiplier for the scale and utility of Ethereum.”
Powering Linea Builders
EigenCloud empowers the future of Linea with an all-in-one platform for Linea developers:
EigenLayer: brings higher yields to ETH on Linea while allowing ambitious builders to tap into billions in economic security for building their verifiable services.
EigenDA: Supercharges Linea chains by providing the highest throughput data availability in the industry. EigenDA has recently pushed its throughput to an impressive 100 MB per second, which is approximately a thousand times faster than Ethereum blobs, addressing a traditional bottleneck for ambitious builders.
EigenCompute: Built on top of EigenLayer, this service abstracts away the complexities of node operations and stake, allowing developers to build directly in a familiar cloud container. This enables the creation of more ambitious applications that couldn't fit on-chain and facilitates the integration of AI agents on-chain.
Eigen Labs and Linea are actively collaborating on several exciting initiatives:
EigenDA: EigenDA will be natively integrated into the Linea stack to power chains to reach thousands of transactions per second.
Eigen DevKit: Launching soon, this kit has been developed in partnership with the Linea team to accelerate AVS (Autonomous Verifiable Service) development. It's particularly important for DeFi ambitions on Linea, providing a faster, easier way to build.
Verifiable Inference for AI: Eigen is developing services, expected later this year, that will allow off-chain AI agents to interact with on-chain token contracts. This addresses the critical challenge of making AI inferences verifiable, opening new possibilities for on-chain AI applications.
A particularly exciting area involving teams at both Consensys and Eigen Labs is the development of ERC-8004, a protocol that extends Google's agent-to-agent communication protocol with a trust layer built on Ethereum. This enables trustless AI agents to discover, choose, and interact across organizational boundaries without needing pre-existing trust. This framework lays the foundation for future AI coordination and value transfer, powering billions of transactions at speeds humans cannot match.

2025 Launched a New Era for Linea and L2s
2025 will be remembered as the year a broken L2 paradigm began to shift to something more stable and enduring. This is the year the ecosystem grew up, and much of that foundation was laid in recent months by Linea Over the past several months with the launch of the LINEA token, Linea established itself as the most ETH-centric L2. Linea tokenomics drives a non-extractive economy, designed to benefit every participant in our network over the long term “The networks that will matter in five years aren't the ones optimizing for today's benchmarks,” explains Declan Fox, Head of Linea. “They're the ones designed to be self-sustaining economies that strengthen Ethereum, not just sit on top of it.”
